Vineyard Colla Micheri
The “classic” vines, which date back to the 1970s and are Guyot-trained, are still the core of our vermentino production.
The yield is low, from old stock rooted deep in limestone, terraced by the stone walls that are the pride of Liguria’s dogged country folk.
Apart from the vermentino, we also found a small-berried sangiovese had been planted at the same time, over an area of 5,000m. In 2004 we decided to replace this with a spurred cordon of grenache, at a density of 6,000 vines/ha.
The south-southwest-facing vineyard is located at an average altitude of 150 metres.
The age of the vines, the terracing and the dry, stony soil limit our production to 30 quintals per hectare of vermentino, while we manage a yield of 60 quintals per hectare for the “young” grenache.
